Is self-advocating a healing mechanism?
If you ever wonder how to communicate better, this episode may help you. Actually, it may help you to do so in timely manner. In addition, talks about how we can face uncomfortable situations and how you can transform your life with meaningful negotiations.
To talk in depth about this topic, Dr. Colleen Mullen has been invited, who is the author of a podcast called «Coaching through Chaos» which deals with all these types of topics. Dr. Colleen is a mental health professional who has worked in the fields of psychology and marriage and family therapy since 2002. She has been licensed as a marriage and family therapist since 2006 and received her Ph.D. in 2009. Dr. Colleen especially likes the coaching aspect of her work because it is related to advanced thinking and goal orientation. As a systemic practitioner and chaostician, she has developed a great ability to see the «bigger picture» of a person’s life and helps her clients decide the details they want in that image.
What you will learn in this episode:
- How to define self-advocating from a psychological perspective
- Why it is so important to have self-advocating in all scenarios (work, family, couples)
- Basic steps that may help you to take the courage to advocate for yourself
- The relationship of self-advocating with the behavior of adolescents
